The Latest Gezeirah from the Government // Hat decree: “Just equality,” claims minister

The current Israeli government has once again targeted chareidi Jews with a seemingly punitive measure, demanding that they all wear their hats backwards.
Chareidi MKs complained that the measure was illogical, demeaning and seemed designed to single out chareidim for mistreatment.
But the government was adamant that this was an attempt at equality. “Reform rabbis don’t wear black hats,” MK Ofir Yahalom said. “Therefore, it is discriminatory that chareidim should wear them. And if they are going to wear them, they need to wear them backwards. Except for Vizhnitzers, who have to wear them the regular way.”
