LunchBreak with Brad Moss // Product Labs

BACKGROUND: Selling on Amazon isn’t simple.

Who better than Brad Moss to turn to for advice on how to sell on Amazon? Brad was one of the key people behind “Seller Central,” Amazon’s platform for sellers, before he launched Product Labs.

Product Labs is a company that essentially runs your Amazon business for you, with experts creating your listings and providing customer service. All you need is the product you want to sell.

Brad has become a sought-after speaker due to his expertise regarding selling on Amazon, and he has spoken at several conferences involving Orthodox Jews.

My grandfather was United States Senator Frank Moss.
“Ever since I was a child I had the entrepreneurial spirit. I ran a snow shoveling business when I was ten years old. It grew so large that I would hire workers to shovel snow for my clients. I taught myself how to create 3D graphics and helped create a computer game when I was a teenager. I started a video production company at the end of high school, where we would make high-end videos. We started out on the wedding scene and then shifted to corporate videos.

“We didn’t have a lot of money growing up. My parents were frugal and I learned my hard work ethic from my dad.

“I went to the University of Utah, where I obtained my film degree, and then went on a mission in Hungary for two years. That was the hardest work I ever did. I got up at six a.m. for two straight years and worked all day.

“My first job was in a company that produced video games; they made games for EA and Microsoft. I rose through the ranks within that company and that motivated me to start my own company with a former colleague of mine. We called it React Games.

“While React Games was doing well, I decided to pursue my MBA at Brigham Young University. I had seen too many ups and downs in business, and I wanted to better understand how business works.

“I was still involved in React Games while in business school, but to a much lesser degree. With a wife and several children, I survived on student loans and our savings. I received attractive internship offers from Citi Group and American Express. I chose Citi Group, where I helped in both marketing and HR.

“Through pure happenstance, I was checking my spam folder and noticed an email from Amazon offering me a job. They had sent it two days earlier. The business school had a portal where they offered resumes of graduates, and Amazon must have seen something in my resume they liked.

“I got a job at Amazon as a product manager. A product manager is a mini-CEO of a product. I was put in charge of a new project to introduce a program that would help incentivize sellers by giving them rewards for hitting certain selling milestones.
